Dorchester County Speaks is an independent, resident-run community platform. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Dorchester County government. This policy explains what we collect through our feedback form, why, and how we handle it.

What we collect

When you submit the feedback form, we receive the category you choose and the feedback you write. That is the heart of the platform.

We also collect your name, street address, email address, and phone number — but only if you choose to add them. These fields are optional and never required. If you leave them blank, your submission is anonymous. We may also record your answers to optional questions, such as whether you are willing to be contacted.

We do not use tracking cookies, advertising trackers, or analytics that identify you.

Why we collect it

We use your feedback to document community concerns and turn many individual voices into visible trends we can bring to local leaders. Any optional contact details you provide are used only to follow up with you, and only because you chose to share them.

We do not sell your information

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share your information with advertisers or data brokers — ever. We never publish your name, address, email, or phone number, or use them outside the purpose described here, unless you have explicitly given permission to be contacted or identified.

Services that handle your data

Your submission is transmitted and stored using Google (Google Apps Script and Google Sheets), which holds the responses on our behalf so the platform's organizers can review them. Google processes this data under its own privacy terms. Access to the responses is limited to the platform's organizer(s).

How long we keep it

We keep submissions for as long as the platform operates and the feedback remains relevant to ongoing community advocacy. You can ask us to delete your submission, and any contact details you added, at any time.

Requesting deletion

To have your submission or your contact information removed, email contact@dorchestercountyspeaks.org and we will delete it.

Children

This site is intended for adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “last updated” date above.
